The first Socrates Cafe was held in Mostar on October 17, 2019. The theme of this cafe was "Freedom" while the facilitation was led by Merima Jasarević, who is professor at the Faculty of Education at the "Džemal Bijedić" University in Mostar. Participants were young people and students who enquired pluralized aspects of freedom - from discursive practices to internal motives embodying emotion.

All together, they questioned if there exist freedom if there exist the (legal) limit simoultaneously, whether it arises from courage, what prevents freedom of emotion, how much of our freedom endangers animals. There was no final answer, but new questions and new perspectives were opened such as freedom is a socially impossible but individually it represents a necessary struggle and that freedom stands at the front and responsibility stands on the back.
